Our COVID-19 policy and what we're doing to keep you safe

The safety of our participants and our staff has always been our number one concern. Our COVID-19 policy and the resulting operating protocols are an extension of our ongoing commitment to safety and are designed to ensure your exposure and that of our staff is minimised to the best of our ability.

Our COVID-19 Participation Policy FAQs

What are your vaccination requirements for travellers?

From the 30th of October 2021, participants aged 16 and over are required to provide proof of a current and valid COVID-19 vaccination, with the final dose administered no later than two weeks prior to departure.

There may be travel restrictions in place from state to state or within NSW. It is the duty of participants to check any requirements which need to be fulfilled before travel, which includes transit destinations.

What are the exemptions to the vaccination requirements?

Children up to and including the age of 15 are exempted from vaccination requirements and must instead provide a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to departure.

If they are vaccinated, we will require proof of vaccination.

Medical exemptions for adults will be considered on a case-by-case basis and require a medical certificate from a medical professional.

Those with valid medical exemptions must provide a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to the first day of the trip.

Please be aware that additional quarantine requirements for unvaccinated travellers may apply, depending on your origin, and these should be considered before you travel so the appropriate arrangements can be made.

Which vaccinations are accepted?

For overseas travellers please note that vaccinations which are acceptable are those approved by Australian authorities.

What constitutes proof of vaccination?

A copy of your vaccination record must be provided to our staff prior to the start of your adventure.

All personal information provided is kept in accordance with our privacy policy which you can view here .

A digital or paper copy should also be kept with you during your trip.

Depending on your country of origin, proof of vaccination may take the form of an:

Australia - Immunisation history statement or COVID-19 digital certificate
EU - EU Digital COVID Certificate
England - NHS COVID Pass
Scotland - Vaccination Status Record
Canada - Vaccination Records or receipts issued by province or territory, pending standardised proof of vaccination
USA - CDC documentation
New Zealand - Vaccination confirmation letter

National certificates may alter if vaccination passports are created. Please check with us if you are unsure which documents are required.

Note entry and exit requirements governing international travel are constantly changing and it is imperative you check any requirements which need to be fulfilled before you travel, via your transit and destination country’s government websites.

Requirements may be more stringent than those required by us, and these may include requiring evidence of recent COVID-19 test results.

What if I object to vaccination and do not have a medical exemption?

We acknowledge and accept your right to choose what is best for you as an individual.

Whilst this is the case, we take our responsibility to our participants and staff seriously and with this in mind, will not accept participants on our adventures in the absence of a valid, current vaccination or suitable exemption.

Will you refund me if I am not vaccinated?

Our Terms and Conditions of participation related to cancellation will apply should you decide not to meet the requirements for joining your chosen adventure.

This also applies to those participants who have existing non-refundable Gift Vouchers and who booked before or during the pandemic.

You are able to transfer your place on a trip to another vaccinated participant if you are unable to join the trip due to your vaccination status. It is your responsibility to organise the transfer; and we require a minimum of 72 hours notice once you have made arrangements for your replacement.

Will my leader and support team be vaccinated?

We hold our responsibility to our global team in the same high regard as that of our participants.

In line with this commitment, all our leaders and staff must either be:

Fully vaccinated, or
have a medical exemption and have tested negative to COVID-19 no more than 72 hours before they start a trip, or
have tested negative to a RAT on the morning of departure

How will you manage possible exposure to COVID-19 on my trip?

Our protocols have been carefully honed with your wellbeing in mind, however within all the risk mitigation strategies, it remains that COVID-19 is extremely contagious and there is a risk of exposure anywhere where people encounter one another which cannot be removed.

Acceptance of the inherent risk is voluntarily assumed by you when you when join our trips, though you should rest assured we have elevated our protocols with a heightened awareness of this new paradigm.

Our COVID-19 Safety Measures

What we're doing to keep you safe

In addition to submitting our COVID-19 Safety Plan to the NSW Government and following all of the mandated and recommended public health protocols and initiatives, below is a snapshot of the measures that are now in place on our Blue Mountains adventures.

All participants (16yrs and older) and our staff are required to be fully vaccinated.
Proof of vaccination is required prior to departure. If aged 15yrs and under, proof of a negative COVID-19 test, taken 72 hours prior to departure, is acceptable.
As part of our standard participant waiver, you will be required to answer and acknowledge specific COVID-19 questions and statements. If participants are unable to satisfactorily answer the questions or accept the statements then they will be unable to participant in their adventure.
Any participants presenting with virus-like symptoms may be asked to remove themselves from the adventure and seek an immediate COVID-19 test.
All participants and BMAC guides/staff, must wear a face mask when travelling in shared vehicles and in our office.
Regular hand washing and/or sanitisation will be required throughout your adventure. Alcohol based hand sanitiser will be positioned in regular contact areas such as our reception, briefing rooms, bathrooms, and our vehicles.
All food served on tour will be individually wrapped and not shared.
All common-area surfaces in our office will be regularly wiped with a hospital grade disinfectant.

In line with the Health Orders of the time, we will maintain social distancing at all times during our activity. Where this is not possible, we will use our face masks.
We will be vigilant in monitoring our staff health. Guides who have shown symptoms will not be leading trips.
We will endeavour to keep our group sizes to a small yet viable size.

Our Safety Record

We don’t cut corners on safety. Over and above our well-stocked and maintained first aid kits, we also carry extra safety gear such as bivvy bags and emergency sleeping bags; and our roping practices are designed to ensure the best outcome should a rescue or assist be required. You can be confident our guides are working hard to keep you safe.

No Hidden Extras

Our adventures are all inclusive. All adventures include licenses, equipment, professional guides and everything else you need for an action packed adventure. All you have to bring is suitable clothing, comfortable enclosed footwear, a water bottle and a camera to capture the day. And if you don’t have any of the necessary clothing we’ll happily provide you with the basics at no additional cost.
