Deep, dark and mysterious, Whungee Wheengee Canyon is without a doubt one of the very best canyons you'll find anywhere. There are abseils, glowworm lit tunnel swims, rock scrambling, water jumps and duckunders. A duckunder is where the roof of the canyon comes right down or just above water level, making it necessary to swim underwater for a short distance. Besides the sheer delight and challenge of the activities themselves, Whungee Wheengee offers stunning natural beauty that will take your breath away. Keep a look out for abundant local wildlife such as yabbies, eels and water dragons. The canyon also boasts several sections of fantastic rock architecture, the most spectacular being a 50 metre deep slot that is little more than a metre wide. Shortly after here, Whungee Wheengee joins the much broader expanses of the Lower Wollangambe Canyon. The sudden rise in the water temperature is most welcome as there are several long swims before the exit point is reached. The walk out takes about 1 1/2 hours and is steep in places. Overall, this is a long, hard day, suitable for fit adventurous people who aren't afraid of the dark!

We believe our canyoning adventures are heaps of fun, and we want to ensure you have the best experience possible in the remote regions we explore. Our challenging canyoning adventures are no stroll in the park. They are long, hard days moving through uneven terrain in a remote environment. Participants must have a high level of fitness along with previous abseiling and canyoning experience. Advanced canyons involve many abseils, some of which may be tricky. Access to and from the canyons is strenuous and at times very steep. Some exits involve scrambling or short rock climbs. All participants are required to carry a backpack throughout the day that may weigh in excess of 10kg. Canyons may also involve swimming in very cold water for prolonged periods of time. We don’t cut corners on safety. Over and above our well-stocked and maintained first aid kits, we also carry extra safety gear such as bivvy bags and emergency sleeping bags; and our roping practices are designed to ensure the best outcome should a rescue or assist be required. You can be confident our guides are working hard to keep you safe.
Our adventures are all inclusive. All adventures include licenses, equipment, professional guides and everything else you need for an action packed adventure. All you have to bring is suitable clothing, comfortable enclosed footwear, a water bottle and a camera to capture the day. And if you don’t have any of the necessary clothing we’ll happily provide you with the basics at no additional cost.
