Butterbox Canyon is a spectacular canyon with superb rock architecture. This great action packed trip offers lots of variety with seven exciting abseils and several adrenalin pumping waterjumps! One of the highlights is the two challenging 25 metre abseils straight down a deep dark slot. The second abseil here is off a giant chockstone wedged between the canyon walls. After finishing the canyon it’s not over yet, as there is a 15 metre, grade 12 rockclimb to conquer on the way out. You will be safely roped and belayed by our experienced guides on this short exposed section 100 metres above the deck! A great finale to an awesome day. The steep exit walk and climb usually takes 2-3 hours. Butterbox is a challenging, adventurous trip that is physically demanding.

We believe our canyoning adventures are heaps of fun, and we want to ensure you have the best experience possible in the remote regions we explore. Our challenging canyoning adventures are no stroll in the park. They are long, hard days moving through uneven terrain in a remote environment. Participants must have a high level of fitness along with previous abseiling and canyoning experience. Advanced canyons involve many abseils, some of which may be tricky. Access to and from the canyons is strenuous and at times very steep. Some exits involve scrambling or short rock climbs. All participants are required to carry a backpack throughout the day that may weigh in excess of 10kg. Canyons may also involve swimming in very cold water for prolonged periods of time. We don’t cut corners on safety. Over and above our well-stocked and maintained first aid kits, we also carry extra safety gear such as bivvy bags and emergency sleeping bags; and our roping practices are designed to ensure the best outcome should a rescue or assist be required. You can be confident our guides are working hard to keep you safe.
Our adventures are all inclusive. All adventures include licenses, equipment, professional guides and everything else you need for an action packed adventure. All you have to bring is suitable clothing, comfortable enclosed footwear, a water bottle and a camera to capture the day. And if you don’t have any of the necessary clothing we’ll happily provide you with the basics at no additional cost.
We offer more adventure locations in the Blue Mountains than anyone else. The canyons and climbs of the Blue Mountains are many and varied. Ever heard of Du Faurs Creek?
