Summer in the Blue Mountains is a great time of year to make a splash in the canyons and soak in warmer weather at thrilling heights.

We have a number of top adventures we recommend between September and April, but it's important to note that some trips are temporarily unavailable and inaccessible due to essential road repairs.

Why you should go canyoning in the Blue Mountains

Running water has been carving these sandstone slot canyons for millions of years, and the Blue Mountains is known for having the world's greatest concentration of vegetated slot canyons anywhere. 

The only way into this deep, World Heritage-listed landscape is on foot and descending via a rope. Across a day, you'll swim, wade, jump into pools, abseil through waterfalls and scramble over rocks and boulders. Some slot canyons measure less than a metre across at the top and drop more than 30 metres to the floor, so you're moving through country most people only ever see from a lookout.
