winter canyoning

Deep Pass Canyon Explorer

This adventure visits a canyon, cave and beautiful open gullies located within the Wollemi National Park, north west of Katoomba. The grandeur of the canyon almost defies description. Carved over millions of years by the relentless action of running water, Deep Pass canyon can be traversed without swimming, but you can expect to get your feet wet and muddy. Whilst swimming is optional, cold feet are not, but you will quickly forget the icy waters as you are lost in wonder at your surroundings. If you are up for the challenge your guide will take you through a narrow cave and squeeze you through the T-slot. Once all the action is over you’ll walk back to the car via an easy Fire Trail. You’ll love this remote corner of the Blue Mountains. This trip is suitable for people with a range of fitness levels. No canyoning experience is necessary.

Abseiling & Juggler Canyon

Juggler is action packed with five very different abseils, interesting rock scrambles and stunning rainforest between steep canyon walls. The adventure kicks off with a warm up abseiling session before heading down some of the exciting drops in the canyon. The water is shallow, and can generally be avoided, making it the ideal winter canyon! The view into Grose Valley is spectacular and the short walk out via the historic Point Pilcher track is steep and takes just over 45minutes to the top.

Tigersnake Canyon

Tigersnake canyon is a “dry” canyon but don’t let that steer you away – it has all the attributes that are desired in a canyon, yet without swimming. We head here in winter, abseiling and scrambling through tight constrictions and through dark places. Tigersnake has 4 abseils within the canyon, all unique and challenging in different ways, the highlight being a 27m free hanging abseil down into the dark between the narrow canyon walls. Fantastic views over wilderness valleys and good chances of seeing kangaroos and wallabies on the drive in make this a great experience of some of the best areas that the Blue Mountains has to offer.

$270 per person incl GST. Private group departures available.
