Fortress Creek Canyon

Fortress Creek Canyon near Leura is a full day canyon. The canyon section of Fortress is preceded by a magnificent trek along a delightful walled-in creek, passing through a variety of habitats from hanging swamp to rainforest. The canyon itself involves some constricted swims between narrow sandstone walls, rock scrambling, waterjumps and an overhanging abseil (suitable for first time abseilers). The canyon ends unexpectedly on the edge of a 100 metre precipice high above the spectacular expanse of the Grose Valley. Relax on a sunny rock shelf as you enjoy your lunch with breathtaking views all around. The walk back takes a little over an hour on average with the first 20 minutes being the steepest. Much of the walk is through open heathland with possibly the best views in the Blue Mountains from the top of the Fortress.

Lunch

All BMAC full day participants receive a generous picnic lunch, provided by our local deli. Select one of their delicious, gourmet sandwich options when you book your trip. Altitude Deli can cater to most dietary requirements with notice, so please let us know of your needs as soon as possible.
