Overview

Trip Code: BEC

"Warami mittigar" - Hello friend. We welcome you to Dharug Country

"Biimbiigang" - Greetings. We invite you to Gundungurra Country

If you can ride a bike, then this self-guided tour is the best way to see the sights of the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains. Be amazed at how easy eBikes make exploring the Blue Mountains as you cruise up the hills and go further than you imagined! Don't just rent a bike, have an adventure and create memories!

You will commence you day at our Cycle Hub adjacent to the Blue Mountains Adventure Company office in Katoomba. Look for the iconic chimney stack of The Carrington Hotel in the centre of town. After your bike fitting and a short briefing, you will be on your way.

The ride has been designed to provide some straightforward reasonably flat riding at the beginning so that you can get used to the gears, battery powered assistance and brakes.

The first point of interest to stop and dismount is Cahills Lookout. This lookout provides you with westerly views across the Megalong Valley towards Jenolan Caves and the vast wilderness of Kanangra-Boyd National Park. For the keen of eye, you may spot abseilers and climbers scaling the nearby Boars Head rock formation.

Continuing your cruising along the roadways atop of the escarpments of the Jamison Valley, we head to our next suggested dismount. At Katoomba Falls Reserve, a short 400 metre walk takes us to Reids Plateau. This loop track offers your first uninterrupted glimpses across the Jamison Valley towards Mount Solitary, Ruined Castle and beyond. The mighty Katoomba Falls is also a major visual feature at this series of lookouts. Not a place to be missed.

On we continue to the epicentre of Blue Mountains’ tourist visitations, Echo Point. Busy? Yes. Worth visiting? Definently. From this vantage point you will be up close and personal with the iconic geological rock feature known as the ‘Three Sisters’. One of the most photographed locations in New South Wales.

Escaping the crowds, we cycle to Leura Cascades. Currently closed to vehicular traffic, this historic picnic area is a joy for walkers and cyclist alike. A stop and short walk to see the cascades is worth the effort.

Next stop is Gordon Falls. Another lookout worth the walk is on offer at this lovely picnic area. Look to your left for views of Gordon Falls and to your right you can see the Three Sisters from a different angle. Or perhaps just enjoy a brief break and cool drink on the grass under a tree before its back on the bike!

Now it time to start returning back towards Katoomba. We’re sure you’ve worked up an appetite by this stage so as it's your self-guided adventure, a slight detour into Leura Village for one of its many sweet delights may be the solution.

Once back in Katoomba you’ve again got a vast array of food and beverage options for that ‘end of adventure’ celebration. Simply return your bike to us and be quickly on your way to the micro-brewery, café, restaurant or whatever takes your fancy.

Book your Blue Mountains eBike self-guided adventure now.

NOTE: Minimum age is 15 years old due to the weight and size of the bike, and the need for road smarts.

This adventure takes place on DHARUG and GUNDUNGURRA Country. We acknowledge their enduring connection with this Country, as they are the traditional custodians of this land, and we journey in respect of their Country.

This self guided trip involves around 30km of cycling, generally on sealed roads and cycleways with an occasional gravel path. Some sections of the daily cycles may have traffic, including trucks. Being a self-guided trip you determine the pace and schedule. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and good health and be a capable cyclist. Be prepared for potential variable weather conditions which can also add to the timing and comfort of a trip, for example riding into a head wind will take more time than when the wind is behind you If you have any concerns about your suitability for this adventure, please contact our office.
